Charity Bingo Not Breaking the Law

Some Madison County residents feel that they are on the Vegas Strip even though they are still in Alabama. The reason for that is the building in the area filled with 300 bingo machines of different types. You really cannot find anything like this area in Madison County so residents cannot really be blamed for feeling awkward and confused about the whole situation.

It may appear gambling at first glance, but the whole deal is legal and law abiding and its making the quiet town of Triana make a name for itself. Even an ordinary person will feel that he is a high-stakes players once they walked inside the place. But if it would be the case, you would be in trouble because gambling is prohibited in Alabama, but the whole establishment is exempted as it offers Bingo.

According to Don Gilbert, who is a Montgomery attorney that is representing the bingo establishment, bingo is allowed by Constitutional ammendment and the whole bingo operations is for charity just like any other non-profit organization. It is just more technologically advanced when compared to the games that are held in traditional bingo halls. It is the future of how bingo will played in the years to come.

The establishment is called Charity Bingo and is located off Wall Triana. Attorney Gilbert reiterated that it is not illegal gambling and will never be. The operators of the hall are VFW and are following the law in Alabama under the Madison County and town ordinances.

Players cannot win more than $1,000 dollars per bingo game, so this will hopefully mean that players will come in the area more often which will result in good business for the whole community. Charities that participates in the games have to pay the $100 dollars license fee and the bingo machines are taxed at the rate of $200 dollars each year so more bingo machines means more profit for the city. Alcohol drinks and cigarettes are not for sale inside the Charity Bingo establishment. Smoking is only allowed at certain parts of the bingo place.
